Praktische Informationen Für die Einreise nach Ägypten benötigen Sie einen gültigen Reisepass.
Als EU-Bürger besorgen Sie sich Ihr Visum bei der Ankunft am Flughafen in Ägypten. Am schnellsten geht es, wenn Sie mit Dollar bezahlen. Wenn Sie mit Euros bezahlen wollen, müssen Sie diese dort in LE umwechseln. (Visagebühren Stand Februar 2008 ca. 12 € / ca. 95 LE)
Nicht-EU-Bürger sollten sich vor der Einreise bei der ägyptischen Botschaft ihres Landes über die Modalitäten erkundigen. Wir empfehlen Ihnen dringend den Abschluss einer Reiseversicherung. Bitte halten Sie für evtl. Notfälle eine Kontaktadresse in Deutschland bereit. Bitte bringen Sie Bargeld mit nach Ägypten, weil es z. Zt. noch keinen Geldautomaten in St. Kathrin gibt. Sie können dann die mitgebrachte Währung in LE umwechseln. Travellerschecks nützen Ihnen nichts, da sie in St. Kathrin nicht eingelöst werden können.

Wearing the right pair of boots can make the difference between enjoying a trip and being in pain. | | Sandals | Sandals are perfect for the desert and post hike relaxing. | | Warm clothing | Warm clothing is important, even in the summer it is cold at night. So bring some layers such as jackets, scarves and fleeces. | | Hiking shorts | If you chose to wear shorts we ask the ladies to please keep shorts to the knee in respect towards our hosts. | | Hats | Any sort of head covering such as a hat or cotton scarf is essential as the sun is quite strong. | | Swimsuits | There might be opportunities to swim. One piece suits are encouraged for women in respect to the local culture. | | Towel | Bring a travel towel. | | Sun glasses | The sun is bright with a strong glare so bring sun glasses or a wide brimmed hat. | | Flashlight | Flashlights and headlamps are very handy once the sun sets. | | Sun screen | Essential as it is easy to get burnt at this altitude. | | Medicine | Bring any medication you are using, the Pharmacy in St Catherine does not carry a lot. There will be a first aid kit with every group but should you have specific needs it is recommended to bring those. | | Sleeping bag | A personal sleeping bag is optional, blankets and mattresses are provided. | | Insect spray | The gardens, where we stop for the night, may attract mosquitoes. | | Backpacks | Camels will carry your bags as well as the food and water from one camp to the other so do not worry about weight. | | Day pack | Bring a daypack for personal items such as a camera, water and sunscreen as well as a light sack lunch. | | Camera | You will find countless opportunities to capture the beauty around you on camera. |
