Wadi Rumhan - Wadi Isla Trek (3 days)

Starting in the sandy escarpment of Wadi Rahaba, a short Jeep ride from St. Catherine's, this trek leads all the way down to the coastal sandy plains at El Tur city.

Highlights: The wide escasrpment of Wadi Rahaba; long, wide sandy wadis with boulders and palms; Byzantine Noamis on hilltop; a seasonal waterfall; Bedouin gardens and the ancient Monastery of Rumhan; spectacular views of the plains at El Tur city and the Gulf of Suez; narrow canyon with a creek, ponds and lush vegetation; the sandy plains at El Tur.

  •  Departure in Jeep from the town of St. Catherine’s to Wadi Rahaba
  • Starting trek from the Environmental Centre, towards Wadi Tarfa

  • Arrive at campsite at Wadi Isla

Day 03

  • Continuing in Wadi Isla
    • Wadi gets narrower
    • Creek, ponds and lush vegetation in canyon
  • Reaching the sandy plains at the end of the wadi
  • Lunch in the small settlement of Wadi Isla
  • Returning to St. Catherine's by car or continuing on to one of the coastal towns from El Tur city
