Mt. Abu Masaud - Wadi Isla Trek (5 days)

Starting in the heart of the rugged high mountaina of Sinai, this trek leads all the way down to the coastal sandy plains at El Tur city.

Highlights: Specatcular views of the Blue Desert from mountain passes above; long, wide sandy wadis which get narrow at times, runing through granite walls and seasonal granite waterpools; Byzantine Noamises on hilltops and passes; the mighty Mt. Abu Masaud with magnificent views to the main mountains and wadis; Bedouin gardens and date palms among massive boulders; narrow canyon with a creek, ponds and lush vegetation; the sandy plains at El Tur and the view of the Gulf of Suez.

Day 01
  •  Departure in Jeep from the town of St. Catherine’s to Wadi Umm Gaysun
    • Spectacular views to the basin of the Blue Desert
  • Walk in Wadi Wadi Abu Ksheib
    • Wide open sandy valleys
    • Water well of Bier Shuel
    • Seasonal granite water pools
  • Lunch in Wadi Abu Ksheib
  • Walk towards evening campsite at Wadi Nasb
    • Bedouin gardens
    • Byzantine noamises on top of pass
  • Arrive at campsite in the settlement of Wadi Nasb
  • Dinner

Day 02

  • Starting the climb to Mt. Abu Masaud

    • Creek, ponds and lush vegetation in canyon
  • Reaching the sandy plains at the end of the wadi
  • Lunch in the small settlement of Wadi Isla
  • Returning to St. Catherine's by car or continuing on to one of the coastal towns from El Tur city
